Jamboree Troop 1650 Cell Phone and Electronic Device Use Policy
Cell phone use Policy:
1. While on tours in New York and Washington, when we depart the hotels, cell phone use
(including text messaging) is prohibited. Parents and friends should limit calls and text
messages to the end of the tour day and not during the day.
2. While on tours in New York and Washington, cell phone use in the hotel room, at night
only, is permitted.
3. Cell phones will be confiscated by the Scoutmasters if the Cell Phone Use Policy is
violated by any scout. Scoutmasters are not responsible for any damaged, lost, or
stolen cell phones.
4. While at the Jamboree site at Ft. A. P. Hill, Virginia—cell phone use is permitted at night
only, in Scouts tents, during private, non-patrol or organized troop activity times.
5. Cell phone use (including text messaging) is prohibited during all other times during the
day. Cell phone use is not allowed outside scout’s tents and not allowed during meal
preparation, eating, clean-up or other activities.
6. Cell phones will be confiscated by the Scoutmasters if the Cell Phone Use Policy is
violated by any scout. Scoutmasters are not responsible for any damaged, lost, or
stolen cell phones.
Electronic Devices Use Policy:
7. Electronic Devices (iPod, Mp3 players, etc.) are allowed when traveling on aircraft and
traveling by bus from New York to Washington, D.C. Their use is also allowed in hotel
rooms at night or in tents at night. Electronic devices are prohibited at all other times.
Scoutmasters are not responsible for any damaged, lost, or stolen electronic devices.
